What is physical therapy

Physical therapy is a medical, hands-on approach that aims to ease or relieve pain and restore your normal movement function. Physical therapists on the other hand, are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and are close at work with your physicians.

Paloma physical therapists will perform an evaluation on your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work with you to relieve it.

Our physical therapists will use exercises, and equipment and a variety of gentle hands-on techniques to relieve your pain quickly and restore your function to normal levels.

No matter what your condition is, our goal at Paloma is to restore your mobility and function while also preventing the injury or pain from recurring.

Will physical therapy help me?

Will there be pain or side effects of doing therapy?

Physical therapy is meant to eventually relieve the pain in problem areas while being gentle in the process.

During your session, your weakened or recovering muscles may experience temporary soreness in response to your therapy treatment. As you restore your mobility, pain levels at times can fluctuate.

To minimize discomfort, a good communication with your therapist will help.

Here at Paloma Wellness and Rehabilitation we want you to be back on track to your normal activities relieved of pain as soon as possible.

How long are each therapy sessions?

The time for each session will depend on the specific treatment for your condition, and our therapists will gladly discuss this into more details with you.

How many therapy session will I need?

Diagnosis for each of our patients vary. Your plan of care and the number of visits you will have will be determined during your first visit and explained to you by our physical therapists.

Working together with you and with your referring physician, our therapists will develop a plan of care that is right for you.

What are the credibility of my therapist?
Physical therapists in general have had years of university level training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology (study of joint movement), neurology, and many other medical sciences.

Paloma Wellness and Rehabilitation physical therapists are state licensed, and are proud graduates from accredited physical therapy programs.

How do I schedule my appointment?
We made our scheduling simple for you! Paloma Wellness and Rehabilitation offers a convenient location and customizable appointment times just for you.

You have the option of morning, afternoon and evening appointments available to meet the demands of your busy schedule.

Our office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

What do I need to bring with me on my first/initial appointment?
Having your referral* and insurance card available on hand when you call will allow us to verify your insurance benefits and provide you with an estimate of coverage.

To bring on your first visit:

  • Referral (if needed) for physical therapy from your referring physician, ARNP, or PA.
  • Insurance information (we will make a copy of your card).
  • Print out our new patient intake forms found here, fill them out, and bring them with you.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork, so you can maximize your time in your evaluation.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your problem areas. (Refer to our What Clothing Should I Wear For My Therapy Sessions FAQ for more details)

For automobile accident or worker’s compensation claim, please bring any case manager or insurance adjuster contact names, phone numbers, and claim number.

*Referrals are required by Medicaid and Medicare, all other insurances please call us at (915) 584-5683 and talk to our friendly representatives for more information.

What clothing should I wear for my therapy sessions?

We recommend for our patients to dress comfortably with clothes that would allow easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas.

Supportive sneakers are a good choice to wear for treatments that require gentle exercises.

Does insurance cover my treatment?

Yes, in most cases your insurance should cover your physical therapy treatment. We do offer other payment options for your added convenience.

What if I don't have insurance?

For patients who do not have insurance, please call us at (915) 584-5683 and one of our representatives will further assist you with this matter.

What type of payment do you accept?
We gladly accept cash, check, debit card, and credit card. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of service.

Your insurance benefits will be determined before your second visit, and you will be informed of what, if any, payment is necessary on that date. Give us a call at (915) 584-5683 to further assist you with other inquiries.
