Functional Dry Needling
What is Functional Dry Needling?
Functional Dry Needling is a treatment technique used by our dry needling therapists as an approach to treat neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction[myofascial(muscle) pain]. It requires the insertion of sterile neuro filament needle through the skin then to areas such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. This treatment technique is effective at treating complex and deeper muscle layers where hands and fingers cannot reach. The result of this treatment technique is to ultimately relieve the pain and movement dysfunction in problem areas and restore/enhance the body’s ability to heal.
Will Dry Needling Hurt?
For most of our patients, the insertion of the needle will not be felt. We always try our best to make the treatment painless, however, a “twitch response” could occur and provoke a short pain sensation such as muscle ache or cramp. This is a normal response and applying ice or heat while also drinking plenty of fluids will help mitigate the soreness.
